Ve siz burayı Mercan Holding gibi dinamik, çağdaş bir şirketin merkezine dönüştüreceksiniz. Bu, büyük bir sorumluluktu. Yaklaşımım çok netti: Müdahale et ama asla silme. Yapının o yaşanmışlığını, taş duvarlardaki izleri saklamak yerine, onları başrole koyduk. The Mercan Holding Headquarters is an adaptive reuse project of the Ottoman-era Elephants Barns. What was it like to shoulder such a historical legacy? This is one of the projects I would call the apple of my eye. Imagine having a structure like the Elephants Barns from the Ottoman era—an extraordinary building carrying immense historical memory—and transforming it into the headquarters of a dynamic, contemporary company like Mercan Holding. That was a great responsibility. My approach was very clear: intervene, but never erase. Rather than concealing the traces of time—the marks on the stone walls—we placed them at the center of the narrative. We gently inserted modern office life into this historic shell. We are talking about a vast 2,500 m² space. How did you structure such a volume? Yes, the volume is extremely powerful. This is the heart of Mercan Holding. Instead of fragmenting the 2,500 square meters into smaller sections, we wanted to preserve and emphasize the sense of spaciousness. Of course, privacy for departments and executive offices was essential, but we designed a flow that maintains communication. There is a transparent transition between open offices and enclosed spaces. The high ceilings and depth of the historic structure already whispered what needed to be done—we simply listened.
